ABC News: Premier Mark McGowan quick off the mark on foreign worker policy changes

One of Premier Mark McGowan’s pledges to Western Australia was to have it removed from the Regional Skilled Migration Scheme (RSMS). Within a few days of being sworn in, he’s already making good on that promise and Western Australia (WA) has ceased its processing of RSMS applications.

The official migration website for WA reads, “the State Nominated Migration Program and the Western Australian skilled migration occupation list (WASMOL) are currently under review. While this review is underway intending migrants will not be invited to apply for Western Australian State nomination.”

We wonder how this will unfold – will applications submitted before the review still stand a chance? Hopefully news comes soon for all those with applications and jobs in the balance.
